Patna, July 20 (Inditop.com) Tension prevailed in a town in Bihar’s Vaishali district Monday as residents protested the death of a schoolboy, found dead in the bathroom of the school hostel Sunday. His parents alleged criminal negligence by the school authorities.

Shubham Kumar, 7, a class one student, was found dead in the bathroom in Oasis Residential Public School at Dharampur town in Vaishali district.

Fearing an attack by hundreds of protesters, the school authorities fled the premises, abandoning the other students. Later the district administration deployed police and officials to take care of them.

Vaishali Superintendent of Police Paras Nath said that Shubham’s body bore cut marks on the neck and wrists. “Police have begun investigations to ascertain the cause of death,” he said.

Local residents have demanded strict action against school authorities and threatened not to allow the school to re-open if police failed to act.

This was the second such case in the state this month. Earlier, a boy was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a residential school in Bhabua in Kaimur district.

Hundreds of residential private schools have come up across state with most running without proper monitoring and regulation by the government.
