Agra, Oct 27 (Inditop.com) A raid on a printing press in the Sanjay Place commercial complex in the heart of Agra has brought to light a forged mark-sheet scam which is sure to rock Agra University in the coming days, officials said Tuesday.
Acting on a tip off, Shatrughan Singh, recently appointed registrar of the B.R. Ambedkar University of Agra reached the printing press in the basement of Skytower building in the Sanjay Place complex Monday evening. He found thousands of mark sheets being printed.
Singh confiscated around 4,000 forged mark-sheets bearing the official university logo and hologram. There was no electricity at the time, enabling the owner of the press to disappear.
Police said: “One Gopal Maheshwari whose identity is still to be confirmed was absconding.”
The employees present at the press told the registrar that one person claiming to be an official of the university gave an advance of Rs 50,000 for printing the mark-sheets.
