Chennai, March 21 (IANS) V. Muthuselvi of the ruling AIADMK was Wednesday elected to the Tamil Nadu assembly from Sankarankoil constituency, defeating her DMK rival by over 68,000 votes.
Muthuselvi bagged 94,927 votes, the Election Commission said. The AIADMK has retained the seat.
DMK’s Jawahar Suryakumar got 26,220 votes followed by MDMK’s T. Sadan Thirumalaikumar (20,678) and DMDK’s K. Muthukumar (12,144 votes).
Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary J. Jayalalithaa thanked the voters.
