Ranchi, Feb 5 (IANS) Jharkhand’s Bibhuti P. Kashyap, selected for Senior Residency Programme as retina specialist at the AIIMS here, has vowed to return to the people of the state.
There were only three seats in general category at AIIMS for the Senior Residency in the field of Ophthalmology held this year. The results pf entrance tests were declared last month. There were only two posts for retina specialists. Kashyap bagged one of them.
Kashyap said apart from surgical retina, his training also includes various untouched and un-mastered specialities like Uvea, Retinopathy of Prematurity (Retinopathy in pre matured new born) and pediatric ophthalmology.
“Once I clear the residency programme, I will be the youngest and first retina specialist from Jharkhand to have undergone such a specialised senior residency programme at AIIMS,” Kashyap said.
Ophthalmologists from across the country vie to get selected in this most coveted senior residency scheme at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.
The senior residency exam is considered to be the toughest and the doctors cracking it are mostly the ones who do post-graduate programme at AIIMS.
To get the retina seat not only one has to clear the exam but has to get the top ranks as well.
