Chandigarh, Aug 25 (IANS) Bringing their differences to the fore, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Wednesday said the Akali Dal, its major partner in the ruling coalition government in Punjab, was ignoring it while taking important decisions.
Senior BJP leaders said they were unhappy over various decisions, including on the issue of distributing Rs.733 crore for upgrading basic amenities in municipalities.
‘Akali Dal is continuously ignoring us while taking decisions on pertinent matters, including many developmental projects that were started in the state. The constituencies and areas ruled by BJP are being ignored,’ BJP leader and state Local Government and Industries Minister Manoranjan Kalia told reporters here.
‘There is a difference in allocation of money meant for development purposes. We had also taken up this matter with Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal,’ he added.
Punjab Health Minister and BJP leader Laxmi Kanta Chawla said: ‘Punjab Health System (PHS) vice chairman was recently appointed by Badal without any consultation with me.’
‘Badal had also returned the letter in which I had demanded that over 80 Punjab doctors, who are in Chandigarh on deputation for more than five years be sent back to their parent state,’ Chawla said.
Akali Dal leaders, however, have refuted these allegations and said that their alliance with the BJP was strong and and that there was no rift between them.
