Ranchi, May 2 (IANS) The Jharkhand High Court Friday quashed the arrest warrant issued by a Bokaro court against Bihar BJP leader Giriraj Singh.

“Jharkhand High Court quashed the arrest warrant issued by a Bokaro court. The court, while hearing his petition, found the warrant illegal and quashed it,” Giriraj Singh’s lawyer told reporters.
April 23, a Bokaro court issued arrest warrant against the leader for his provocative speech.
Two first information reports were lodged against Giriraj Singh — one in Bokaro district and the second in Deoghar district of Jharkhand — on the instructions of the Election Commission.
He is the BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate from Nawada constituency in Bihar.
In his speech April 18 while campaigning in Jharkhand, the BJP candidate said: “Those who are opposing BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi are supporters of Pakistan.”
A Bokaro police team went to Bihar’s capital Patna last week to arrest him but did not find him at his residence in the city.
The hearing in Deoghar court will take place Saturday. A Deoghar court, while hearing anticipatory bail of Giriraj Singh April 29, suspended his arrest till May 3.
