Lucknow, Sep 16 (IANS) The Uttar Pradesh assembly, on the opening day of its monsoon session Monday, witnessed an uproar over the riots in Muzaffarnagar district that have claimed 48 lives.

Legislators of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) trooped into the well of the house and raise anti-government slogans, alleging complete failure of the state government in providing safety to people.
Led by Leader of Opposition Swamy Prasad Maurya, the BSP MLA’s wore caps bearing slogans and demanded the resignation of the Akhilesh Yadav government on grounds of all-round failure.
Failing to control the legislators, Vidhan Sabha Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey adjourned the house, first for 15 minutes and then for over an hour.
BSP leaders led by Maurya and Naseemuddin Siddiqui, leader of opposition in the legislative council, raised slogans against the government in the lobby and staged a brief sit-in.
