New Delhi, May 12 (Inditop.com) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed former union minister Surya Pratap Shahi as the president of its Uttar Pradesh unit.

“BJP national president Nitin Gadkari appointed former union cabinet minister and party’s state vice president Surya Pratap Shahi as the president of the BJP’s Uttar Pradesh unit,” said a one line statement issued by the party Wednesday.

He replaces Ramapati Ram Tripathi, who was appointed BJP’s state chief in September 2007.
