Chandigarh, Aug 24 (Inditop.com) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Monday announced that it had decided to break its alliance with the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) in Haryana and would go it alone in the assembly elections in the state.
“We have broken our tie-up with INLD and would go for the forthcoming assembly polls alone,” Vijay Goel, BJP general secretary in charge of the party’s Haryana affairs, told reporters here.
He said: “This alliance has broken not because of us but due to the rigid approach of INLD over sharing of seats. Our party workers were not happy with the goings on in the alliance.”
Goel said this was also decided in the BJP’s introspection session in Shimla that concluded last week. “In our three-day chintan baithak (introspection meet), the party high command decided to contest maximum number of seats in Haryana.”
“We are already working on it and hopeful of getting good candidates,” the BJP leader said. The state, ruled by the Congress, has 90 assembly seats.
