New Delhi, Nov 6 (IANS) Blaming the central and the Bihar governments for the attack on its prime minister candidate Narendra Modi’s rally in Patna, the BJP Wednesday demanded that the Gujarat chief minister’s security be stepped up.
Citing the blasts and reports that there is a heightened threat to its prime minister candidate, Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said that there was “gross negligence” on the part of both the Bihar government and the centre, as even standard operating procedures for security like frisking, sanitisation of the area and metal detectors were not used, ahead of the Oct 27 rally in Patna.
“We cannot do politics on terror. The country has lost two prime ministers because of terrorism, and we should learn lessons from this,” he said.
“We hope the centre will take note of the threat to Narendra Modi and not do politics on the issue of security. We demand that Modi be provided adequate security,” he said.
The party’s parliamentary board Tuesday demanded that the central government take all necessary steps to provide adequate security to Modi following the Oct 27 serial blasts in Patna that left six dead and over 80 injured.
