Ghaziabad, April 26 (Inditop.com) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a rally here Monday to protest against the power situation in Ghaziabad and alleged “stepmotherly” treatment for the city neighbouring the national capital.
The BJP organised a protest rally from their Nehru Nagar office to the electricity board’s superintendent engineer’s Kavi Nagar office and presented a memorandum addressed to the governor of the state.
Senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh also wrote a letter to Governor B.L. Joshi in this regard. Rajnath Singh spoke of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati’s avowed commitment to ensure smooth power supply.
The former state chief minister requested the governor to seek help from the central government in providing power to farmers.
In his address to the participants, BJP leader Baldev Raj Sharma said: “If power is not provided at least for 20 hours within three days, neither the BJP activists would sleep nor would we allow officials to sleep.”
“Stepmotherly treatment is being given to Ghaziabad only because the residents elected BJP leader Rajnath Singh to parliament. Even the remote countryside district of Bijnore is availing 20 hours power supply while Ghaziabad is getting only about eight to 10 hours of power supply.”
