New Delhi, April 21 (Inditop.com) The Congress Wednesday criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for holding a massive rally against price rise in the capital and said that states ruled by the BJP too had done nothing to curb rising prices.
“Controlling price rise is not just a responsibility of the Centre. State governments are also supposed to take measures like the implementation of the Essential Commodities Act to end hoarding and blackmarketing. The BJP-ruled states failed to act in this direction,” Congress spokesman Manish Tewari told reporters here.
Thousands of BJP activists besieged the capital for the huge rally against rising prices, tipped as the first show of strength of the newly-elected party president Nitin Gadkari.
Addressing the crowd, Gadkari accused the Congress-led government of betraying the people’s trust and said that price rise had become synonymous to the Congress coming to power.
