New Delhi, Feb 4 (IANS) From Feb 12, the BJP will launch its ‘Chai pe Charcha (discussion over tea)’ campaign for the Lok Sabha elections across 1,000 locations in the country, party leader Sushma Swaraj announced here Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters here, Sushma Swaraj said the party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi would launch the campaign nationwide on Feb 12.
The party expects to dialogue with at least two crore people through the interactive sessions at tea stalls.
The event is a reaction to the Congress taunt targeting Modi, who used to sell tea on trains as a youngster.
“People can give their suggestions through phones or social media during events or after it,” said Sushma Swaraj, leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha.
“We hope to reach out to two crore people through this Chai pe Charcha and Chai Chaupal campaign,” she added.
She said 10-15 rounds of chai stop campaign have been planned. The sessions would be held every five days. “We have identified 1,000 locations.”
