New Delhi, March 29 (IANS) Appealing to the people of Telangana not to resort to suicide, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushma Swaraj Thursday said a separate Telangana state was inevitable and her party would continue to fight for the cause.
“The BJP coming to power is imminent and Telangana formation is inevitable… I appeal to Telangana people not to resort to suicide under any circumstances,” Sushma Swaraj told the Lok Sabha.
“The BJP will continue to fight for the cause of Telangana… reflecting the aspirations and emotions of the people at the national level and will surely deliver the dream of Telangana,” the leader of opposition in the house said.
Asking the “youth to have faith in the party”, she said she “she was deeply pained and shocked over the third suicide in past three days for the cause”.
“While the continuing suicides reflect the growing frustration of the youth of Telangana over the betrayal of the government, suicide is never a solution to the problem. Telangana people have had the history of bravery and courage,” she said.
She said the “polemical stances of certain political parties, specially the Congress”, is the reason for the delay in the formation of a Telangana state.
The BJP leader said: “The struggle for separate Telangana has a history of more than five decades and the people of Telangana are now on the verge of realising it.”
The dragging demand for a separate state to be carved out of Andhra Pradesh has disrupted in the Lok Sabh for four consecutive days. At least two people have committed suicide in the last few days for the cause.
