New Delhi, June 29 (IANS) The BJP’s women’s wing staged massive protest outside Congress headquarters against Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad ridiculing Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioning ‘Raksha Bandhan’ in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio programme.
The Congress leader on Sunday slammed the prime minister for mentioning Raksha Bandhan in his radio programme, saying that his selective talk about the festival of a particular religion is an attempt at “polarization”.
“There are 15-20 crore Muslims in this country. It is Ramzan time. Had he said that all will together celebrate Eid…after that Diwali will come and then we will celebrate Diwali together and then Gurpurab, it would have been nice that the prime minister of the country was talking about its composite culture,” Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad said.
“But this selective talk, regrettably, appears to be aimed at polarization. Chor chori se jaye, hera feri se na jaye (one cannot change one’s essential nature),” he mentioned.
One of the BJP protesters at the Congress party office said: “This insult to the prime minister, ridiculing his comments, cannot be tolerated.”
More than 200 women protesters of the BJP were detained by police.
