Varanasi, April 9 (Inditop) Congress general secretary and Amethi MP Rahul Gandhi Thursday accused Uttar Pradesh’s ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) of not having done much for the development of the state and failing to utilise the funds provided by the central government.
“The state used to be the best in the country two decades ago but the BJP, BSP and Samajwadi Party have done nothing for the development of the state in the past 20 years,” Gandhi said at a poll rally in Chandauli district.
“The centre has released a lot of money for various developmental projects but it got stuck in Lucknow and never reached the needy,” he added.
Gandhi was in Chandauli to campaign for the party’s Lok Sabha poll candidate Shailendra Singh.
“The Mayawati-led state government claims to be pro-Dalit and pro-poor but its only aim is to earn money. If you have any problems and if the state government is not helping you, every resident of the state is free to approach us (the central government) any time,” Gandhi said.”
“I would like to promise you that the Manmohan Singh-led UPA (United Progressive Alliance) government will carry on with its various developmental schemes in the future as well,” he added.
