Hyderabad, Dec 24 (Inditop.com) Amid escalating tension over the Telangana issue, a large number of central paramilitary forces are being airlifted to Andhra Pradesh to maintain law and order.

While declining to give the numbers, police said a substantial number of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and other forces were on their way to Hyderabad and other parts of the state.

Inspector General of police A.R. Anuradha told reporters that the forces were coming from all the border states.

“Substantial number of forces are coming for deployment in Hyderabad and other parts. I don’t want to give the numbers as this will unnecessarily increase fear,” she said.

At least 10 companies of CRPF are being airlifted from Jalandhar alone, sources said.

The state has also called for additional police forces from neighbouring states to tackle the protests.

The forces are arriving amid speculation that Andhra Pradesh might come under President’s rule due to the constitutional crisis triggered by the mass resignations of legislators over the Telangana issue.

Already CRPF and Rapid Action Force (RAF) have been deployed at Osmania University and other places in Hyderabad to maintain law and order.
