New Delhi, June 10 (IANS) The Congress on Wednesday asked the AAP government to appoint a Lokayukta within two weeks to act against former AAP minister Jitendra Singh Tomar and others.
The party also asked Delhi Police to demonstrate the same “promptness” to investigate central ministers like Smriti Irani and Ram Shankar Katheria who too, like Tomar, are said to hold fake degrees.
“There are several cases against AAP legislators and ministers. Without Lokayukta, there cannot be any action against them. If the Lokayukta is not appointed, how can there be action against fake ministers like Tomar,” Congress leader Ajay Maken asked.
“We want the Delhi government to appoint a Lokayukta within two weeks, failing which the Congress will be on the streets.
“(Arvind) Kejriwal should know that after he has become chief minister, there cannot be politics of ‘Virodh and Vidhroh (opposition and agitation)’,” Maken said.
Police on Tuesday arrested Delhi Law Minister Tomar amid high drama and secured a four-day police custody over his alleged fake degree.
Maken said: “Delhi Police should show the same promptness to investigate central ministers like Smriti Irani and Ram Shankar Katheria too”.
