New Delhi, Sep 3 (Inditop.com) Many Congress leaders Thursday cancelled their official engagements following the death of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy in a helicopter crash.
Mourning the death of YSR, as the 60-year-old chief minister was popularly known, Commerce Minister Anand Sharma cancelled the cultural programme and dinner for the WTO Ministerial meeting as “a mark of respect to the departed soul”.
Forty trade ministers from overseas and top officials of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) were expected to attend the dinner Thursday night.
Three cabinet ministers cancelled their media conferences scheduled for Thursday.
Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal decided not to hold his press briefing scheduled for 4 p.m., while Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni also cancelled an interaction with media representatives, organised by Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
Minister for Women and Child Development Krishna Tirath postponed her evening interaction with women journalists.
Reddy and four others died in a helicopter crash Wednesday. The wreckage was found Thursday.
