New Delhi, Oct 31 (IANS) The Delhi unit of Congress Thursday tried to broker peace between its five sitting Delhi MLAs and those against them for being renominated for the December assembly polls.

To save the party from damage ahead of polls, state Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and state unit chief J.P. Agarwal called a meeting of the five MLAs and the district and block level workers, said party sources.
Sources said the MLAs included two cabinet ministers, who apparently faced opposition from their colleagues who gave “negative” feedback about them.
Both leaders listened to both sides and asked them to iron out their differences.
Sources said efforts were on that the central election committee clears names for all sitting legislators for tickets when it again meets.
Earlier, the party released a statement, saying it cleared nearly 40 names of sitting MLAS for party tickets.
The central election committee under Congress chief Sonia Gandhi will take the final call on the names.
