New Delhi, May 16 (Inditop) The Communist Party of India (CPI) Saturday said it would wait for some time to say whether it endorsed Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) general secretary Prakash Karat’s line that the Left would never support a Congress-led government, minority or majority.
“Please wait for two hours,” said CPI national secretary Shameem Faizee, hesitating to support Karat’s stand.
Meanwhile, CPI-M politburo member M.K. Pandhe said it was their party’s “clear cut” position on the issue.
Armed with the support of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Karat said Friday that there was no possibility of the Left supporting the Congress in any way.
Karat told the Indian Express: “If it is a minority government issue, then the Congress should support a Third Front government.”
BSP leader Satish Chandra Mishra Friday had held talks with Karat Friday.
After the meeting, the BSP leader reportedly said his party would attend the Third Front’s strategy meeting Monday.
