New Delhi, Jan 12 (Inditop.com) The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Tuesday condemned the “gruesome” killing of four party activists in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district Monday, where two of the victims were shot with the revolver placed inside their mouth.

Seven other Marxist activists were also injured in the incident and were in critical condition.

The CPI-M politburo said in a statement that the killings highlighted “the extent of violence being unleashed” against the Left in West Bengal. It blamed the killings on “anti-social and criminal elements of the Trinamool Congress”.

The dead included Dinesh Haldar, Khairul Jamadar, Biswanath Gayen and Salim Jamadar, the party said.

“The gruesome nature of the killings is revealed by the fact that two of them were killed after being fired with a revolver placed inside their mouths,” the politburo said.

The party criticised Trinamool Congress chief and Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee for alleging that here was no law and order in West Bengal.

“Yesterday’s (Monday) incident is a major development in this continued spree of violence,” it added.
