New Delhi, Aug 31 (IANS) Alleging that innocent citizens are being killed by the security forces in the Kashmir Valley, the Communist Party of India Marxist (CPI-M) Tuesday demanded a probe into the killings.
In a zero hour mention in the Rajya Sabha, CPI-M leader Brinda Karat blamed the central government for ‘negligence’ towards the Kashmir issue.
‘How many more children have to be killed? How long the governments in New Delhi and Kashmir are going to do this?,’ Karat asked.
‘Stone pelting cannot be met with firing,’ she said.
Karat demanded an all-party delegation be sent to the valley, where 65 people have been killed, mostly in firing by security forces, since June 11 during massive protests. She also urged union Home Minister P. Chidambaram to start an ‘unconditional dialogue’ to resolve the issue.
