New Delhi, July 1 (IANS) A Honda city car being used by Communist Party of India (CPI) general secretary A.B. Bardhan that was stolen here on Tuesday night, has been recovered by the police, a party official said.

CPI office secretary Khetro Panda told IANS Thursday that the car, which was parked within the Vithalbhai Patel House residential complex for MPs near Parliament House on Tuesday night, was found missing on Wednesday morning.

Following the registration of a complaint, the police informed the party office that the car was traced in southwest Delhi on Wednesday night, Panda said.

The driver of the car, who was on a temporary assignment, has been detained by the police, he added.

He said the car belonged to the party and was used by Bardhan and other office bearers.

‘The car is still in the custody of the police. Its papers will have to be presented before a court before the car is restored to us,’ Panda said.
