New Delhi, March 31 (IANS) The Delhi government on Tuesday said it will start regularizing unauthorized colonies in the city by fixing their boundary and asking the civic agencies to prepare their layout plans.
Addressing the media, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said: “We are dedicated towards regularizing the irregular colonies by fixing their boundaries.”
He said the municipal corporations of Delhi had been told to prepare a layout plan for all such colonies, which are home tens of thousands of the poorest of the poor.
Sisodia added that registry of such colonies would begin after the process of boundary fixation was completed. “The government would start the registry immediately.”
Sisodia said there were scores of unauthorized colonies in various parts of the national capital. Regularizing them was important for the growth of the city.
“To expedite the process, the chief minister has asked the concerned officials to provide him the progress report of the work on a daily basis,” he said.
