New Delhi, Oct 6 (Inditop.com) Under fire for the delay in preparations for the 2010 Commonwealth Games, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Tuesday met and briefed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the status of various projects related to the event.
“The meeting took place around 12.30 p.m. at the Race Course Road residence of the prime minister. Sheila Dikshit briefed the prime minister about the status of various projects related to the Commonwealth Games,” a senior government official told Inditop on condition of anonymity as he is not authorised to speak to the media.
Sports Minister M.S. Gill also attended the meeting.
The Delhi government has been facing criticism for the delay in games-related projects, with concern growing that some of them may miss the deadline.
Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) Michael Fennell had last month raised concerns over India’s ability to host the games, which are scheduled to begin Oct 3, 2010. He had also sought an appointment with the prime minister.
