New Delhi, Nov 6 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Saturday left for Tokyo to represent the Indian capital at a summit on development of major Asian cities.

Leading a four-member delegation, the chief minister left on a four-day visit to Tokyo and will be back Nov 11, an official in the chief minister’s office said.

The delegation to attend the ninth plenary meeting of Asian Network of Major Cities includes Chief Secretary Rakesh Mehta, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister P.K Tripathi and her Political Secretary Pawan Khera, the official added.

The concept of Asian Network of Major Cities, popularly known as ANMC-21, was evolved in the first meeting of four cities – Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Seoul and Delhi – in the Malaysian capital in 2000.

The idea was to provide an opportunity for Asia to establish a new identity and to develop independently as a world leader.
