Chennai, May 16 (Inditop) An hour into counting of votes for the 15th Lok Sabha elections, the DMK-Congress-VCK alliance was leading in 14 of the 39 constituencies in Tamil Nadu while the rival AIADMK front that includes the Left parties was leading in five seats.

Notable contestants who are leading are M. Krishnaswamy, A.K.S. Vijayan, T.K.S Elangovan, T.R. Baalu and V. Tamizharasi.

Those trailing include Home Minister P. Chidambaram, Mani Shankar Iyer, K.V. Thankabalu and E.V.K.S. Elangovan.

In Puducherry, Congress candidate V. Narayanasamy is leading over PMK’s M. Ramadoss.

Counting of votes cast for the Lok Sabha polls, which were held May 13, started at 8 a.m.

In the fray in Tamil Nadu are 823 candidates, including 41 women. In Puducherry, 28 politicians are contesting the lone parliamentary seat.
