New Delhi, May 30 (IANS) The Gujarat government wanted to devote a few chapters in its school syllabus to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s life, but he ruled it out Friday.

“Am reading in the news that some states want to include Narendra Modi’s life struggles as a part of school curriculum. I firmly believe the life story of living individuals should not be included as a part of the school curriculum,” Modi tweeted.
The young pupils in school should instead read about the stories of “several stalwarts” who worked as pioneers to make India as it stands today, he said.
“India has a rich history of several stalwarts who made India what it is today. Young minds should read about these greats and emulate them,” Modi said.
The Bharatiya Janata Party governments in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh were planning to include his life story in the school syllabus.
The Gujarat government had Thursday said it has decided to include all important chapters of Modi’s life into the syllabus of primary schools.
The Madhya Pradesh government had also said that lessons on Modi’s life may be included in the school curriculum.
