Shimla, Dec 10 (Inditop.com) Moderate to heavy snowfall was reported across the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh Thursday, a weather official said. The Rohtang Pass was again closed for vehicular traffic after fresh snow in the area.
“The higher reaches of Lahaul and Spiti, Kinnaur and Chamba districts experienced moderate to heavy snow Thursday,” Manmohan Singh, director of the meteorological office here, told Inditop.
Sher Singh, district public relations officer of Lahaul and Spiti, said the entire district had been experiencing snow since Wednesday.
He said Keylong recorded 27 cm of snow, Kaza and Koksar 14 cm each and Udaipur 30 cm in the district.
A report received from Chamba district said that Tissa, Pangi and Bharmour areas have also received snowfall.
The Rohtang Pass in Kullu district is covered with three to four feet-deep snow, leading to its closure again. The pass, at an altitude of 13,050 feet, was re-opened Dec 3 after it remained closed for 24 days after massive snowfall in the region.
Hills overlooking the popular tourist destination Manali also experienced moderate snow, while Manali town had mild rain.
Keylong was the coldest place in the state at minus 3.2 degrees Celsius followed by Kalpa in Kinnaur district at minus 1.8 degrees.
