New Delhi, Jan 3 (IANS) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari Monday interacted with ten state party units through video conferencing and called upon party functionaries to strive for ‘accountability and auditing’ in every work.

‘There should be evaluation of the work done. State presidents should give an account of the work done,’ Gadkari said, adding that he too will give an account of his work as party president in the last year.

Speaking at the first video conference meeting with state units, Gadkari said it was a step towards improving communication and coordination between party workers and office-bearers at various levels.

He sought details from state units about membership figures and preparations of party’s campaign against corruption.

He said the state offices had been linked with high-speed internet connectivity and the facility will be gradually extended to state party headquarters.

Gadkari said the facility will promote decentralisation of organizational work, provide greater functional autonomy to states and put in place a vibrant mechanism for greater coordination between state and central units.

Party sources said the first phase of high-speed internet connectivity project has been rolled out in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Karnataka.

The second phase will cover Assam, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Goa, Rajasthan, Punjab and some other states.
