New Delhi, April 5 (Inditop.com) Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Home Minister P. Chidambaram will Monday meet leaders of parties in the Lok Sabha for consultations on the women’s reservation bill, which the government intends to table in the lower house in the second half of the budget session.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister P.K. Bansal will also be present at the meeting, which comes in the backdrop of the government’s assurance to parties opposed to the bill that it will hold consultations before the bill in introduced in the Lok Sabha.

The bill was passed amid uproar last month by the Rajya Sabha. Some members were suspended for unruly behaviour and had to be removed by marshals.

The Samajwadi Party, the Rashtriya Janata Dal, the Lok Janatantrik Party, the Bahujan Samaj Party and a section of the Janata Dal-United are opposing the bill, which intends to reserve 33 percent seats for women in Lok Sabha and state legislatures.
