New Delhi, Dec 30 (IANS) In view of the assembly polls in five states early next year, the government will consult the Election Commission before deciding the schedule of the budget session.

The budget session usually begins in the third week of February, but the polls would stretch from Jan 28 to March 3 with results on March 4.

Sources said as the start of the budget session could clash with the poll schedule, the session could begin after the results are out so MPs do not face a problem.

The controversial Lokpal bill is now expected to be taken up in the budget session.

The winter session of parliament started Nov 22 and ended Dec 29.
