New Delhi, July 13 (Inditop.com) Minority Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid Monday said the home ministry had issued guidelines to address communal issues.
“Guidelines on communal harmony have been issued by the ministry of home affairs,” Khurshid told the Rajya Sabha while replying to a question related to the steps taken by the government to address the socio-political issues of the minority community.
Prevention and control of communal disharmony and violence forms an important section in the prime minister’s 15-point programme announced for the welfare of the minority community.
Laying down the measures to prevent communal violence, the home ministry document said: “Maintenance of communal harmony, and the prevention/avoidance of communal disturbances/riots and, in the event of any such disturbances occurring, action to control the same and measures to provide protection and relief to the affected persons, is a prime responsibility of the state governments.”
