Chandigarh, June 30 (IANS) Haryana and Uttar Pradesh governments have decided to work together to solve their land dispute along Yamuna river, officials said here Wednesday.

A three-member committee has been constituted Wednesday to look into the various aspects of this matter and to solve the land dispute at the earliest.

A meeting to this effect was held at Palwal, in Haryana, between the concerned officials of both states Wednesday.

‘Cultivable land adjoining river Yamuna of both the states has changed into new dimensions due to land erosion. The government of India had started working in this direction in 1975 to solve this problem but only few of the pillars, fixed at that time, have now remained at the site,’ said Amit Kumar Aggarwal, deputy commissioner of Palwal.

‘Now the work to mark the land would again be conducted by the Survey of India and the work will be completed in the next few months. Pillars would be fixed again as per the new dimensions thereby putting an end to the long pending land dispute between the states. A sum of Rs.18.95 lakh has already been deposited for this purpose,’ stated Aggarwal.
