Shimla, Jan 26 (Inditop.com) Braving the extreme cold, the Republic Day was celebrated and national flag hoisted all across Himachal Pradesh Tuesday. Governor Urmila Singh congratulated the people of the state for their hard work and said the state has emerged as a role model for other hill states.
Urmila Singh presided over the 61st Republic Day function at the historic Ridge here where she took salute at an impressive parade.
“The hill state has made big strides in the fields of education, health, hydropower generation and tourism. The credit goes to its hardworking, honest and sincere people. The state has emerged as a role model for other hill states,” she said.
“It gives me immense pleasure that only yesterday (Monday) the state completed its 39 years of statehood,” the governor said in her speech.
Tableaux exhibited by various departments were rolled out during the Republic Day parade.
Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, his cabinet colleagues, legislators and other government functionaries were present on the occasion.
Braving extreme cold conditions, the national flag was also hoisted in the cold deserts of Lahaul and Spiti and Kinnaur districts besides 10 other districts.
Hundreds of people turned out to attend the functions across the state.
