Shimla, Jan 23 (Inditop.com) Outgoing Himachal Pradesh Governor Prabha Rau was given a warm send off here Saturday, an official said.
“Prabha Rau was given a warm send off by cabinet ministers headed by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and legislators of both the ruling BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) and Congress, besides senior government functionaries this (Saturday) morning,” Raj Bhawan’s additional director-cum-press secretary Chhering Dugge told Inditop.
Prabha Rau, who has been shifted to Rajasthan as governor, was given the farewell at a function in Raj Bhawan. She has been Himachal Pradesh governor since July 19, 2008.
“Prabha Rau will reach Rajasthan capital Jaipur Sunday and will be administered the oath of office and secrecy Monday evening,” Dugge said.
Dugge said the new governor of Himachal Pradesh Urmila Singh would assume charge Jan 25. She will be the 23rd governor of the state.
Urmila Singh will be the fourth woman governor of the state since its inception in January 1971. The two others besides Rau were Sheila Kaul and V.S. Rama Devi.
