New Delhi, Dec 26 (Inditop) The Congress party said here Friday that India does not war with Pakistan but reiterated that as a responsible state, its neighbour should hand over the accused in the Mumbai and other terror attacks.
“India does not want war with Pakistan. However, the Mumbai terror attack was sponsored by people in that country. Pakistan must hand over the 40 people mentioned on the list that has been given to them,” Congress spokesperson Shakeel Ahmad told reporters at a press conference here.
Talking about the polling in Jammu and Kashmir, Ahmad said: “Congress welcomes the high polling percentage in Jammu and Kashmir. This shows that people there have rejected the call of election boycott by the separatists which is an indications of people’s faith in Indian democracy”.
The seven-phase elections in Jammu and Kashmir witnessed 63 polling percentage despite the repeated calls by the separatists to boycott elections.
On the issue of the murder of Public Works Department (PWD) engineer M.K. Gupta in Auraiya district in Uttar Pradesh, Ahmad said: “The issue should not be politicised, but the Congress party wants that justice and help should be delivered to the aggrieved family and the guilty must be punished.”
