New Delhi, Dec 24 (Inditop.com) Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) chief Nitin Gadkari Thursday said “indiscipline” in the party will not be tolerated and mutual trust must be the cornerstone of functioning.

“Discipline is not something to talk about, it has to be executed. Indiscipline will not be tolerated,” Gadkari, who took over as the BJP president last week, said in his first press conference here.

Gadkari takes over the reins of the BJP as the party is plagued by infighting and dissidence.

Senior leader Jaswant Singh was ousted from the party after his book praising Mohammad Ali Jinnah was released.

The incident led to a rebellion of sorts among the rank and file of the party, with leaders like Arun Shourie and Yashwant Sinha publicly questioning the authority of party president Rajnath Singh and veteran leader L.K. Advani.

The BJP chief also said that in his team performance oriented members would be encouraged.

“We will give opportunity to everybody. De-centralisation of power would be there and they (the team members) should work like a self-start engine,” Gadkari told reporters.
