New Delhi, May 28 (IANS) An inter-state chain snatcher and his accomplice have been arrested for robbing women’s jewellery in Delhi, NCR and Maharashtra by impersonating as policeman, police said on Thursday.

Tabrez, 27, has committed 30 such crimes– three in Delhi and 27 in Maharashtra.
Tabrez, along with his associate Jahir Abbas Zakir Hussain Zafri, 27, was arrested on Wednesday from a market in south Delhi where they had gone in search of new prey.
Tabrez, a resident of Thane in Maharashtra, revealed that he used to visit different place in Delhi, National Capital Region (NCR) and Maharashtra to target people.
“Tabrez along with Zafri robbed the jewellery of three south Delhi women during his last visit to Delhi in 2014,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Prem Nath said.
Posing as policemen, Tabrez and Zafri had made off with the jewellery of a woman in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar on April 21.
They approached the woman who was wearing some jewellery and told her it could be snatched. They convinced her to wrap her belongings in a paper which they later swapped with another similar packet, said the officer.
