Manvendra Singh, son of expelled BJP leader and former external affairs minister Jaswant Singh, has decided he must get back to what he knows best after his father was expelled from the party for his book on Pakistan’s founder Mohammed Ali Jinnah.

Singh, who was a journalist prior to joining politics, has also served as a major in the Territorial Army.

Last week, the former MP from Barmer launched his defence and security affairs magazine ‘Defence and Security Alert’, brought out by Ocean Media, a unit of Hindi publisher Prabhat Prakashan. Singh believes this is his real calling. He has decided to give politics a sabbatical. At least for the moment.
