Ranchi, Dec 2 (IANS) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arjun Munda is yet to give up his Lok Sabha membership, close to three months after being elected the chief minister of Jharkhand.
Munda will complete three months as chief minister Dec 11. A Lok Sabha member from Jamshedpur, he has to get elected to the state assembly within six months of his becoming the chief minister.
But Munda seemed to be enjoying his parliament stint.
‘I am going to take part in parliament session. There is a group photo session of parliamentarians on Thursday and I will be present,’ Munda said here Wednesday before leaving for New Delhi.
BJP legislator Mangal Singh Soy quit his Kharsawan seat Tuesday to help Munda get elected to the Jharkhand assembly.
Opposition parties are demanding Munda quit the Lok Sabha and contest the assembly poll.
‘Munda’s resignation will help election commission hold the bypoll to the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha and Kharsawa assembly seats together,’ senior leader of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajatantrik Praddep Yadav told reporters.
