Ranchi, Jan 3 (IANS) Jharkhand legislators and ministers led by their chief minister would declare their assets by March 31, the state assembly was told Monday.
The decision was announced by Chief Minister Arjun Munda while answering a query by a congress legislator during the question hour.
‘All the ministers will declare their assets,’ the chief minister said in response to a question by Congress legislator Yogendra Sao.
Assembly Speaker C.P.Singh proposed to the house that all legislators should declare their assets. After their consent, he said, ‘All legislators will declare their assets by March 31.’
Jharkhand has 12 ministers, including the chief minister, and 82 legislators.
The state hit headlines for wrong reasons when its former chief minister Madhu Koda, some ministers and officials were detected to have amassed wealth far beyond their known sources of incoem.
Madhu Koda and three former ministers Enos Ekka, Harinarayan Rai and Kamlesh Singh are in jail for more than one year now in graft cases.
