Lucknow, July 29 (Inditop.com) Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi was Wednesday granted bail by a Moradabad court in a case filed against her for making allegedly derogatory remarks against Chief Minister Mayawati.
“She (Joshi) has been granted bail by the district court on two sureties of Rs.20,000 each,” her counsel Anand Mohan Gupta told reporters after the hearing.
The state Congress chief was arrested July 16 for her remarks allegedly against Mayawati in Moradabad. She was sent to jail on a 14-day judicial custody after being booked under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Joshi was released on an interim bail July 18 on two sureties of Rs.30,000 each.
“This is a political conspiracy against me and the action against me was a result of the personal grudges of Mayawati,” Joshi told reporters after her release July 18.
Joshi’s house was set on fire by Bahujan Samaj Party activists July 15 night following which five people were arrested by police.
