Kolkata, Feb 9 (IANS) Presenting a “charge sheet” against West Bengal’s Trinamool Congress government, the Left Front Sunday accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of running a “totalitarian regime”, failing to give security to women and making a “record of corruption”.

Communist Party of India-Marxist politburo member Surjya Kanta Mishra said the government was “anti-farmer”, “anti-poor” and had failed to ensure jobs for the unemployed youth.
“You are running a totalitarian regime in the state. You are trying to impose an undeclared emergency. Don’t you dare to take any further step,” Mishra said at a party rally at the sprawling Brigade Parade ground.
The leader of opposition in assembly said even the rights of the opposition were being snatched both inside and outside the assembly.
“They don’t care for democratic norms. The chief minister has not even cared to answer two and half questions in the assembly during the past two years and eight months. She always tries to find an excuse to skip question hour.”
Mishra said the polices being pursued by the government were against the interest of tea garden workers, teachers, labourers and farmers. “Where are jobs for the youths?” he asked.
He said the state ranked first in atrocities against women and some of the recent rape cases have attracted international attention.
“This government has made a record in corruption. During the 34 years we were in power, she was mostly in parties which were in power in the centre. No central agency has ever found our white shirts besmirched with the mud of corruption.”
