New Delhi, July 16 (Inditop.com) The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day Thursday afternoon following chaos in the house over the arrest of Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi and the arson attack on her house.

Members of Uttar Pradesh’s ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) raised slogans against the Congress and rushed to the well of the house. Deputy Speaker Kariya Munda failed in his repeated attempts to pacify them.

Congress members from the state too shouted slogans against Chief Minister Mayawati, rushing to the well of the house.

Soon the deputy speaker adjourned the house for the day. The Lok Sabha was adjourned for brief periods thrice earlier in the day.

Joshi was arrested after midnight Wednesday in Ghaziabad for allegedly insulting Mayawati. Around the same time, her house in Lucknow came under attack allegedly by BSP supporters, who also set fire to it.

Joshi has been charged with insulting state Chief Minister Mayawati and has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
