Bhopal, Feb 24 (Inditop.com) Main opposition Congress Wednesday criticised the Madhya Pradesh government for allegedly patronising those who were involved in corruption.
In a discussion on the motion of thanks to the governor’s address, Congress legislator Govind Singh Rajput alleged that though the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power on the promise of removing fear, hunger and corruption, it has failed to fulfill its resolve.
Rajput said the BJP failed to provide a terror-free state as the common man was living under constant fear due to ever-increasing incidents of loot, rape and robbery.
Corruption has pervaded even in the implementation of pro-poor welfare schemes like the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme without which a starvation-like situation would have found its way in the state.
“Detection of crores of rupees during income tax raids at the residence of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) couple Arvind Joshi and Tinu Joshi has proved that the bureaucrats were neck deep in corruption and this could not happen without the patronisation of the ministers and the government,” Rajput alleged.
Rajput asked for an explanation from the government on why action against the IAS couple was not taken. “Madhya Pradesh has earned a bad name on account of the corruption prevailing everywhere and this should be checked.”
