Lucknow, May 20 (Inditop.com)  Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi Thursday said Maoist problem can be only be resolved through talks and not by violence.

“Maoists should realise violence cannot be a solution to any problem… Problems cannot be addressed by killing innocents….The Maoists issue can be solved through talks,” Modi said at a seminar in Mangalayatan University in Aligarh, some 300 km from here.

“….savindhan ki maryada mein shastron ko chhod kar baatcheet ka raasta hi samadhaan ka marg hai (giving up weapons and talking within the jurisdiction of the constitution is the solution).

“We need to explain to them (Maoists) that they would not achieve anything through violence,” Modi replied when asked to comment on the Maoist violence.

Modi’s remarks came as his his Chhattisgarh counterpart and fellow partyman Raman Singh is advocating tough action against the Leftwing rebels.

In the past month, the Maoists have scaled up their attacks on security forces. On Wednesday, the rebels triggered twin explosions in West Bengal’s Lalgarh area, killing five security men.
