New Delhi, July 10 (IANS) Mastermind of the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) admission scam Punita on Friday surrendered before a Delhi court, which sent her to two-day police custody.
She told police that the idea of EWS admission came when she had got admitted children of her sister under EWS quota.
“Thereafter, through some people, she used to get admissions in various prominent schools of Delhi,” Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav said.
Yadav said the admissions were being made in Lancer Convent School in Rohini, Venkateshwar Global School in Rohini, Delhi International School in Rohini and Dwarka, Bal Bharti Public school in Pitampura, VSPK school in Rohini, Vikash Bharti school in Rohini, Mont Fort school in Ashok Vihar, Max Fort school in Rohini, Heritage school, APJ school in Rohini, Rukmini Devi Public school Pitampura and Ryan International school Rohini.
“Later on, she started doing the same herself by applying in schools in different names of children. In this way, she got children admitted in Springdales schol in Dhaula Kuan, Modern school in Barakhamba Road, Bal Bharti Public school in Dwarka and other schools,” he said.
The official said she along with her husband was staying in various hotels in Haryana during her absconding period.
According to the official, her husband is still on the run.
The Crime Branch of Delhi Police registered a case on March 18 and arrested two people Hukum Singh and Arun Kumar – both residents of west Delhi’s Mangolpuri – on June 25.
On June 24, the officials had also arrested Neeraj, who was working at Lancer Convent School and getting admissions done with the help of his associates.
