New Delhi, March 1 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written to Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani expressing sadness at loss of lives in avalanches in different parts of the country and offering any possible assistance in rescue and relief efforts, a spokesman said Sunday.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin tweeted that the prime minister had written to the Afghan president offering assistance to help people rebuild their lives following avalanches.
“India deeply saddened by loss of lives in avalanches in different parts of Afghanistan – PM @narendramodi writes to Prez @ashrafghani,” he posted.
“India ready to help in any way with rescue & relief & help people to rebuild lives – PM @narendramodi to Afghanistan’s Prez @ashrafghani,” he added.
Over 250 people are estimated to have been killed and an unknown number were missing after avalanches hit Afghanistan over the past couple of days.
